PVBC Day 5…

Hello fellow bloggers, this is Tyra in Haiti, sharing the love of Jesus with the people of Haiti. Today we did VBS (vacation bible school) with the “mountain kids” while the other kids were at school. We shared our “because of Jesus…” stories, and I as very nervous :/ But I think I did okay!

Last night we got our hair braided, (Haylee, Mikayla,Lindsey,Spencer,Marla,Tyra, and Aaron.) we look RAD!! Anyway VBS was a success, we taught & answered questions about Jesus. The kids were very open about questions 🙂

Then we went to relieve to orphanage workers and watched the babies for the afternoon. We just ate dinner, it was delicious! Mom and I just shared our devotions for the night and are now reading the posts from the blog. Love you and miss you much!

Love, Tyra 🙂

A couple of other interesting things happened today. Round two of Lindsey getting sick. Jody gave her medicine and she slept through the rest of the day. (About 9 1/2 hours) She is feeling better now, but could still use the prayers.

While we were at the orphanage, Caleb climbed a palm tree and knocked down a coconut so we could eat it. Then the translators got more coconuts down so we could drink out of them.

We brought a baby goat into the gate where the orphans were since they had never seen those type of animals before. One little girl had mixed emotions about it. She was excited, shocked, and scared.

We are still going strong, and enjoying all our time here. We are sad that we only have a couple of days left, but are thankful that we had the chance to come. (Don’t worry, we are still trying to find ways to stay…)

Tomorrow we are going back to Preskul and stopping in a village called Karenage. We’re going to play games and just love on them. Thanks for all the comments. We love listening to Jody read them out loud to us every night at dinner. Keep praying lots! We love and miss you all!

Love,

Lindsey and Mikayla

  8. Students, God has reconciled you to himself through Christ and gave you the ministry of reconciliation; God was reconciling the people of Haiti to himself in Christ, not counting their sins against them. You are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. God made him who had no sin to be sin for the Haitians you are communicating with, so that in him you have become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:18-21) What is so freeing about this is you don’t have to second guess yourself. You share your faith and your walk the best way you know how, and the Holy Spirit does the rest. We don’t save them. God does. I know you know that. 🙂 If you sense that maybe you didn’t share something quite the way you wanted to, even then God will take your words and make them salt, and the person(s) you talk to will be saved, if God chooses to do that. It is a mystery. No pressure on you to say the “perfect words.” : ) Praying for you! Finish empty! Love you all.

  9. Hi everyone! I just love hearing everything that God is doing in and through y’all in Haiti. Y’all don’t know me (yes Jody, I just said y’all… TWICE ;)) but I am from Texas Tech and was just at the Mole last week! I just want to leave some encouragement for your team.

One thing the Lord really taught me a lot about last week was obedience and results. There were many times when I heard the Lord prompting me to do something, so I did it and saw no immediate fruit. That was difficult and humbling but an incredible lesson to learn. Know that what you are doing in the Mole is having an eternal effect! Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t having huge Holy Spirit moments. He is moving and working! Continue to love on all those sweet Haitians!

From myself and the entire team from The Wesley at Texas Tech, we love and miss everyone so much! We all wish we could have turned around and taken that 9 hour bus ride AGAIN just to get one last hug or smile!

Jody – Tell Mikela, Malaya, Rosie and Gabe that we are missing them SO much and can’t WAIT until we get to love on them again! We miss those two sweet boys Asher and Levi, too!

    Love, Meredith

  10. Sissy – B, What’s the deal? I see that you are not feeling well….again! So sorry to hear, Mum and I are praying that you recover quickly. I guess my advice (lecture) on washing your hands, sunscreen, bug spray, drinking plenty of fluids, eating right, yada, yada, yada went in one ear and out the other 🙂 Hope you are feeling better very soon so that you can love on some kids. Mum said she could tell you weren’t feeling well a couple of days ago by looking at one of your pictures, you know how she is….concerned. Love and miss you lots, can’t wait to see you on Friday. Cheers! Papa D
