Sewing Class Graduation…

Graduation!!!

29032013

This morning, the four ladies who were in the sewing class GRADUATED!!!!! The looks of happiness and excitement that each of the ladies had when they came in were priceless. They all wore their best clothes for the occasion. The ladies who graduated were Echnie, Nobita, Jesumene, and Ydieunise.

Yes, originally there were more than four ladies in the class, but this is Haiti, and as always, plans changed. I feel so blessed to have had the time to meet and get to know these ladies! We have had so much fun together!

One of the projects the ladies made was a small tote bag with their name on it, which I had them leave with me so I could do something special with them. I surprised them all this morning by filling their bags with supplies for their own personal sewing kits wrapped in sparkly tissue paper; you should have seen how excited they were!! They each got a certificate of congratulations that was printed in Creole, and I received a hug from each of them after they received their certificate.

After they all had opened their gifts they asked me to leave the room for a few minutes. I was especially touched when I came back in the room to find that they each brought a gift for me and that they had wanted to make them extra special by wrapping them for me with the tissue paper that their sewing kits were wrapped in! They each gave me something that they had embroidered and worked very hard on.

I am definitely going to miss having these wonderful ladies in class, but I am so thankful for the chance I’ve had to get to know them all, and I look forward to seeing them at ladies Bible study, church, and when I’m just walking through town :)
