Strand of 3…. Day 4

Today was a great, but exhausting day!  We began the morning by splitting our teams into two groups.  The men began work on building a shakoon that will be used to provide a shady space for the orphanage children to play.  As we marked the dimensions of the floor on the ground with wooden stakes and string, we also began digging up the top layer of plants and rocks to make the ground ready for the concrete to be poured later.  A few Haitian men worked alongside us so remove a large stump.  To say they outworked us would be an understatement.

As the men were digging, the ladies hosted a spa day for some elderly people in the area.  The elderly are a group that are often neglected or forgotten in Haiti.  The ladies pampered the people who came by washing their hair, painting and filing toenails, and washing and massaging feet.  A couple of the elderly ladies commented that they were so thankful because they had not had their hair washed in 2 months.  A few of the men who were working construction even came in and helped with the foot washing.

After lunch we did hut to hut evangelism in a nearby village.  It was so awesome to stop and talk with different families.  While one or two of the team members were talking with the adults, the rest of the team members would play with the children.  We used frisbees, jump ropes, bubbles and nail polish to show Christ’s love to the women and children we met.  As we talked with each family, we would pray with them.   We prayed with so many different people, including mothers, children, fishermen, grandmothers, aunts.   It was amazing to watch the Holy Spirit move in the lives of the people we prayed with, as well as our team members as they were the hands and feet of Jesus.

Jacquie, Macey and Ben,

Thank you so much for letting us know how you are doing!  We are having a great time!  Micah especially loves any chance he gets to interact with babies.  It has been awesome to watch his heart every time a baby is near.  We love and miss you all so much and can’t wait to see you!  Thank you for all your prayers!
