Happy 4th of July!
This past weekend we had the pleasure of hosting the interns from St. Louis! After a wonderful weekend of fellowship – we ended our time together with a 4th of July Celebration!
For the past several months the kids in children’s church have been earning points for memorizing scripture, attendance, answering questions, participation, inviting friends, etc. Tonight the top 30 children were invited for a night of fun!
We started the night off dancing together & playing our own version of musical chairs (you scatter papers all over the ground and you pick one up each time a kid is out). Then they watched a cartoon for 30 minutes so we could get the outdoor games ready. Malaya & Rosie performed a little they’ve been working on once the children got outside. Then we had several rounds of – a sack race & a three-legged race.
After that the kids returned back inside and continued watching cartoons while we cooked their hotdogs on the bonfire and got the tables ready. After that everyone had been given a sack full of fun glow-in-the-dark items!
One of the glow-in-the-dark toys you use a rubber band and shoot it in the air. So we went back outside and practiced shooting it! We also had glow-in-the-dark frisbees which everyone took a turn to see who could throw it the farthest!
We ended the night with fireworks and cupcakes! Last year the fireworks accidentally shot side-ways…..pierre, momma gigi, and myself may or may not have been hit by said firework!
This year however – we shot them off the road and no one got hurt….although everyone still loves to scream each time the sky lights up!
Here are a few pics & a video of our fun night!
