University Christian Church – Day 1

We want to thank everyone for their prayers.  We had a great trip.  We made it to Mole around 12:30 today.  We were served a very nice lunch.  After lunch, our translators gave us a tour of Mole. We got to swim in the ocean and it felt wonderful.     We  played with some of the children today which was fun.  We will have dinner soon.  Tomorrow, we will go to Marouge  for church.  We will meet people and start doing our surveys.

We are here! Even though Haitian time is the same as central time it still feels like our clocks are very off!  Probably has to do with waking up at 3:30 this morning!  But we made it safely and even got to play in the ocean today–probably the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen.  It’s been exciting, sobering, tiring and fun.  This afternoon we learned a lot about what we’ll be doing over the next few days, as well as some insights into the culture from the leaders here.  At the beach this afternoon I got to play with some little boys and wished my boys were right there playing with us.  Micah, J & Liam, you would have had so much fun!  I was thinking of you the whole time!  Josh you would like the history–Christopher Columbus landed here and we saw an old Spanish fort.

Tomorrow we go to church in Marouge, then start the survey process.  Please pray that we can understand what the needs are and that communication would be clear.  And pray that we can abandon our own agendas to reach out to people right now as God leads.  And pray for Sara–she has a cold and isn’t feeling well.   FYI this blog will be updated each evening, but it may not actually post until morning.  And they’ll read the comments to us, so feel free to tell us how much you love us and miss us and want to buy us flowers when we get home.  🙂  Amy
