Wow. What a day! I am so excited to be watching what God is doing here. Second full day here in the Mole and God is definitely at work. We started the morning by walking to Karenage for church. With the 50lb freedom drama bag and 25 people, we made the 30-minute trek to the nearby village. We watched a short church service and then began our drama. I remember standing in our small pods on the side and I was almost in tears. I was just pleading and begging God that he would be present.
My heart hurts for the brokenness here and I wanted so bad for the people to respond. I wanted this drama to be the breaking point for someone. We went through the drama almost perfectly. The audience would clap, yell, cheer and do everything they could to show us they were intently watching. They loved it.
After it was over, we went to talk to some people. KJ, Bruce, Hannah and I went over to a small group of teenage kids. We started to ask them questions and began getting frustrated after about 5 minutes of no answers from them. So we started to a go a little deeper. As soon as that happened, I noticed the girl next to me kind of mumbling under her breath. I said a short prayer and saw an opportunity. I began to talk to her about having a relationship with Jesus. She explained that she didn’t know if she had one but she definitely wanted one. As soon as she said that I could barely sit still. I just wanted to get up, scream, hug her, and tell everyone. Not wanting her to start crying or change her mind because of my weird actions, I kept my composure. I asked about any other prayer requests and we began to pray. We each took a turn and prayed for this beautiful girl’s transformed life. We prayed for wisdom, comfort, and growth in this new journey. We would love if you all would continue to pray with us over 15 year old, Joselanda. What an incredible, life changing experience. I can only imagine the roaring party going on in heaven right now.
After we played for a little bit, we walked back, ate lunch and took the orphans to the beach! Though we all love the weather here and think it’s so hot, the orphans were shivering in the water. Guess that proves we are from Missouri. Don’t get me wrong though, it is hot here. Many of us have sunburns and will hopefully come back with a nice tan!
Tonight the Texas Tech is supposed to be arriving to the Mole after a long bus ride! Pray for their health as they begin to recover and start their work in the Mole as well! Also tonight, we are having a movie night with the kids in the Mole and are watching The Jungle Book. It has been an amazing experience so far and I am so excited to see what else God has in store. Thank you all for being our pray warriors and keeping us in your thoughts! We couldn’t do it without Jesus by our side. Hope it’s halfway warm there!
Love you all,
Mikayla Minnick
