Rooted 2017… Day 4

Andrea Here!!

Thursday!! So much sun, sunburns, love, and soccer! The kids create an energy that flows through each of us. We did hut to hut ministry today and clinic. I was in clinic, and got to paint nails all day long. The women loved it so much and I started doing designs (Mika you should be proud).

Afterwards we had lunch and began our last day of sports camp. 🙁 We played soccer of course. We did America versus Haiti and I will proudly say that we beat all the kids!

Today was my turn to speak and I spoke on the gospel. It was such a neat experience to preach the gospel to children and have it translated and hear their reactions and watch their faces. How these kids have made such an impact on our lives. They are so beautiful and incredibly smart.

Many girls asked Christ into their heart today and we had the privilege to pray with them. I connected with so many of these children both local and from the orphanage. We walked those who lived in town home today and talked to their parents, reassuring them how amazing and beautiful their daughters are.

I hope they left today knowing that they are daughters of Christ. It is crazy to think that our Sports Camp is over and just when all of us were beginning to be okay at the language.

We swam in the ocean afterwards. The water is refreshing, but it is so warm! Today was impactful. Today I had some kids open up to me. Today I got to preach the gospel. I had God speak through me today to be translated and to touch the hearts of the girls and give them a smile that makes us smile.

I cannot begin to say the impact these girls, this team, the staff here has on me, and I look forward to the ministry I will continue to do to glorify God’s glory and the ministry to come.

Miss you Mom and Dad. See you soon.

Hi Friends!!

Wow-o-wow-o-wow. We’re only half way through and I have SO MUCH to share with everyone! Basically. What you should know is that it’s great and beautiful and hot.

The very first day here I fell flat on my face. So I guess you could say Haiti knocked me off my feet… twice. That’s right. I fell (like all the way down) two times on the first day here. Also, did you think my joke was funny?

Anyways, sorry. One of my favorite parts of the trip so far was today when we played Haitians against Americans in soccer. I don’t think we have any pictures because everyone was so into it! We actually kept up pretty well (but I’m pretty sure we had about 3x the amount of people who were 3x their size).

So far, I’ve been able to play with orphans, shovel some dirt, do hut-to-hut ministry, ummmmm. Oh! We got to go to the ocean today. Okay, I’m sorry. I’m all over the place.

Mom, I’m sure Alan’s not reading this so could you tell him to real quick? I love you and tell Dad the same! Alan, tell Chels congrats for me! Also, I miss you lots. Also, the cokes here are great. Sorry to make you jealous.

Anyways, Haiti is rad! Sunburns, bug bites, heat rash and all! It will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I love you all! Thanks for reading and have a terrific day!

Kristin

P.S. I just read Andrea’s post. She’s a little more well-spoken than me. That reminds me… I love this team too! Okay, I’m done now for real. Peace homies!
