Hello everyone!
First and foremost, despite the unrest going on in Haiti we want all of our friends and family to know that we have not experienced or seen any of that, God is good! All 20 of our 50-pound suitcases made it to the mission with us, thank you to everyone who contributed. Please know that because of you, many lives will be forever impacted.
Yesterday we all safely arrived from the Cessna plane in Port-Au-Prince to the beautiful Mole St. Nicolas. As soon as we got into the mission, the soccer games commenced and we were greeted by everyone when we got off the plane. Our ladies joined a weekly women’s bible study and were in awe of the sweet voices that echoed throughout the church. Immediately after we attended their dance lesson as well, our Haitian friends know how to move!
Today, Tuesday, half of our team worked in the clinic and the other half went to Karenage. On our 40 minute trek, we walked along the most beautiful coastline we had ever seen. While in Karenage the majority of our time was spent playing with the children at a Catholic school during their recess. The kids love hard, and when I say hard I mean 7+ Haitian children jumping on you, yanking your arms and more running towards you when they see you have a bottle of bubbles or cell phone. Never have we felt cooler than in those moments!
The other half of the team spent the morning seeing patients in clinic and dispensing medications from the pharmacy. Our two pharmacists had the opportunity to re-organize all of the medications and make the clinic more efficient. After just a few hours, it was like night and day in there!
After lunch, our group regathered and put on a successful VBS for 35 town kids. We had field day games, relay races, played Mr. Bear Are You Awake, created canvas and t-shirt crafts, something for everyone! Lots of laughs and smiles. Although many of us cannot speak Haitian Creole we communicate through translators, smiles, and hand gestures. We will end the day with a movie night in town!
The Lord is moving mountains in all of our hearts. Please continue to pray for us to maintain energy in the days to come. We love and miss you all!
