What a fabulous day! We left for the fishing village at Preskul early this morning, our plans had been to go to Kap Pa Fu but since the weather has not been great the boat captain was a bit reluctant to go that far. It was evident that God wanted us in Preskul…when we got there we were greeted by several people who were eager to sing with us, pray with us and share their prayer requests with us.
We painted fingernails and toenails (both male and female) and they were so thrilled to have us hold their hands. I was so touched by one woman, Wislin, who has been a beautician in Port au Prince. When we asked if they wanted their nails polished she went to her hut and brought back her nail supplies. She got on her knees and cleaned the other women’s feet, then cut their cuticles and proceeded to polish the feet of many of her peers. It was so humbling to see her serve while we were there. Her prayer request was that God would take her to another country to live but I told her how touched I was that she was blooming where she was planted! Amazing! We came home, crossing the turquoise water and, after lunch, went to the orphanage. We took pictures of all 31 of the children to send to their sponsors. It was so much fun to see each one’s unique personality come through and so touching to see the Mamas take such care to make sure the kids looked good for their picutures.
After the pictures we went to the beach for a while. Wow, you can sure tell a difference between the last time I was here in 2011 and the beach after the hurricane. The beach has been pushed back and the bottom is really rocky. They are building a couple of resorts on the beach, at first I concerned about the impact they may make but while talking to Miss Beth realized that it just provides more opportunities to serve! She has such insight and such a passion for the people of the Mole it has really touched my heart. I can’t wait to come back in June with my boys and other friends!!
Speaking of…we haven’t had many comments from home…what’s up with that? Boys, share this on my page so if anyone doesn’t receive the blog updates they will read them! Parkside, please keep praying for us! We are having a wonderful time but Erica is really challenged with machines that don’t work and we need to pray for her to continue to be motivated! She has some wonderful ideas and the ladies love her, it is truly inspiring to see her love and passion for Haiti and the people here! Deb and I are doing great, already making plans to return next February, who’s with us? Time for bed, hope everyone is safe and healthy! Did I mention it was 80 degrees today? No big deal! Love you all!
The Indiana group had a great day! we visited a fishing village and yes I (Lisa) went in the boat and survived just fine. After lunch we took off to start digging a toliet and shower at the Mole campus. After digging for 2 1/2 hours of digging we only have 15 feet deeper to go. Tomorrow more digging. Friday we head for St. Louis campus.
