Can of Wurms…Day 1& 2

Bonswa! Good afternoon from the Mole. Yesterday we arrived from Port Au Prince and did our first eye clinic. While half the team worked as Andy’s elves, the other half helped Susan in the pharmacy (counting pills, organizing shelves, etc.) We then hung out at the orphanage and had a movie night. Home Alone II was a real hit, we laughed more at the children’s screams than the movie. We had popcorn, and I’m guessing we were the most popular people in Haiti that night.

Today was church and it was so awesome. Even though we didn’t understand most of it, we did understand when they all sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” in English. I also understood “Silent Night”, but when I sang along in English I got some weird looks. After church we went to Preskul. The boat ride there was a little scary considering the waves were larger than the boat, but we made it there safely! Once there, we jumped rope, played dominos, and played a large game of monkey in the middle. The boat ride back was a lot smoother and then we went to the beach for a little down time.

Tonight’s movie is Narnia and tomorrow we’ll have another eye clinic. There is already a waiting list to be seen, and we are excited to get started. We are all healthy and having a great trip!
