Hi, This is Rob,
Just a note about yesterday before we get to today, we enjoyed putting on a 5K in Haiti and although the set up was simple the race itself was full of surprises to say the least. There were many who enjoyed the race and ran the race with integrity. There were others who had to be disqualified due to some boat rides in the middle of the running of the race.
We had 60 Haitian runners that participated in the 5K. We recognized a lot of the people in the race because of the days we spent ministering to them and serving them. We had only one female race participant and she ran a good race and received 1st place in her division. There were 3 guys who got 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. That was a tense and uncomfortable situation for our team as the people in the race who cheated were raising a lot of tension because they were disqualified. Overall the people were very happy to get the shirts and run a race.
The afternoon was filled with a wonderful service project that was greatly needed. We went through a storage closet and took out a mountain of items and then sorted every item. We were able to complete the entire closet in 5 hours. There were (5-6) boxes of important items needed for medical and hygiene. They will be a blessing to the mission.
At dinner we had a balloon volley-ball battle to the death. At the end Paul attempted to slam the balloon and it popped and if you pop the balloon you lose. So we lost the game but it was fun!!!!!!!!!! J Also at bed time there was an epic water fight in the dorms between Rebekah and all the guys! Guess who won? She sure did!!!!! That girl is crazzzzy when sleep deprived. Ha! Ha!
Now, to today’s events, God is Good. The morning was great. We were up early and had a great breakfast. The Sunday service was full of life. Leigh, Rebekah and Holden helped to run children’s church. The kids came into the regular service and sang to the mothers to celebrate Mothers day. They have beautiful singing voices. The people in the main service have an amazing heart and energy as the sing and praise the Lord with all their heart.
The afternoon was full of God’s wonders. In the ocean, we rested and had a chance to snorkel and view God’s creation. We have never seen some of these creatures before. We also had the privilege to lead a young man Frankie to a personal relationship in Christ Jesus. We also baptized him in the ocean. All Praise Be to God!!!!!!
Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
