Meridian Day 4

Today was a glorious day of spreading the Light of Jesus in the Mole and in nearby Daniel. Well…not exactly nearby! We had an amazing hour ride in the back of the Mole “bus” better known as an open-bed diesel truck, which held a total of 24 of us this morning. Bumpy does not even begin to describe the ride, but it is always an adventure and part of the experience of sharing the Word in the nearby villages. We spent the morning sharing about Heaven with the children’s ministry making pins to wear and using props to describe what Heaven will be like. The six different pin beads and the eight different items were all different colors, which we used to describe the promises of Heaven. We then set out on foot to visit the nearby homes of the village people to share time with them. Asking questions to learn about their families and their needs, we then prayed with them to give them the Hope of God’s Promises. Many of us were then led to the home of a relative “just around the corner” because of the strong desire for their home to be prayed over as well. Each family was provided with a solar light to be used at night to remind them that Jesus is the Light of the world when it shines in the darkness of their days and nights. The people were overwhelmingly receptive to sharing their lives and receiving our prayers. A bumpy, dusty return trip got us home just in time to eat lunch before Emma and Katie held another AMAZING dance camp!! More about that shortly in Emma’s blog!! Tonight will be our second, hopefully a little more successful, Movie Night!! Friday’s movie was started slightly early and could not be shown with the French dubbing. L So, hopefully, tonight’s showing of Beethoven will go better with French dialogue and fruit snacks for all!

There really are no words to explain all that we are experiencing here in Haiti! The children are precious…the men and women are warm, friendly and so very welcoming. We will return with stories galore of what we are experiencing and how we are growing in our faith and spreading the Light of Jesus to the beautiful people of Haiti!!!

Thank you all for your prayers for us as we walk the steps and extend the hands of Jesus!

God’s Blessings to you,

Jan Wellemeyer

Day #5 was another successful day in the Mole and in Daniel! You’ve heard about most of the day from Jan, but dance camp was also a big part of our afternoon. We started with only about 10 girls because the weather was looking threatening, but by the end we had nearly 40 girls. It is such a blessing to see these girls praise God through dance and I must say, they are our little dance protégés J The girls love their tutus and are picking up on the choreography surprisingly well.  After one more day of camp on Wednesday, we will perform for the people of the Mole. The girls are going to be great! After dance camp, we got to enjoy a Women’s Bible Study. The women learned the story of Esther and played a fun relay race game to go along with it. They also continued the paper bead project and made some beautiful beads. They are really enjoying this project. I ended my afternoon in the orphanage as a jungle gym to the kids. I knew it was a successful visit when I came back drenched in sweat. The kids are absolutely precious and LOVE having visitors! It is going to be really hard to leave them at the end of the week. But for now, we are just enjoying our time with them and making as many visits as possible. I can’t wait for movie night tonight, and I’m praying that we get a good crowd! Thank you for all of your prayers and encouraging comments!!

Love you all,

Emma Fowler
