All Aboard the Christmas Express: A Journey of Love and Joy!

This Christmas Eve, we transformed our church into a magical wonderland with a train theme that brought joy and excitement to every child at the orphanage. The moment you stepped inside, it felt like you were boarding the Polar Express. “Train cars” were creatively crafted from plastic cubbies, cellophane bags, and paper plates.

A blow-up Santa led the engine, and “tracks” were laid down and connected with twinkling lights and garland. The effort was monumental. It took over 14 hours to decorate and several days to wrap gifts. But seeing the sheer delight on the kids’ faces made every second worthwhile.

At 10 PM on December 24th, the Christmas celebration officially began, and the excitement in the air was contagious. The children arrived full of energy and anticipation, eager for an unforgettable all-night party. To set the scene, mattresses were spread across the church floor, creating a warm and inviting space where everyone could relax and enjoy the evening. Laughter filled the room as the kids settled in for a night of movies, games, and endless fun.

Throughout the night, snacks and candy were passed around, keeping spirits high and fueling the excitement. As the hours ticked by, the party transformed into a Christmas morning filled with warmth and cheer. A delicious breakfast was served, adding to the festive atmosphere, but the moment everyone had been waiting for was the grand finale—the gift opening. Each child unwrapped presents lovingly prepared just for them, their faces lighting up with radiant smiles.

The celebration spanned a full 12 hours, lasting until 10 AM. The night was full of bonding and heartfelt connections. For the children and everyone involved, this Christmas was truly one to remember.

This Christmas celebration would never have been possible without the unwavering support of our church families, friends, and the broader community. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Tom Snivley, Sonlight Church, and every individual who donated, collected, or helped ship supplies to Haiti. Your kindness and generosity brought hope and wonder into the lives of these children in ways that words can hardly capture. You gave them not just a festive celebration but also a reminder of their worth and God’s deep love for them.

Amid challenges and uncertainties, with many of our traditional support systems shifting as people embark on mission trips to safer countries, we found ourselves wondering how we could make this celebration happen. But God’s provision shone through in the most extraordinary ways. He worked through each of you who felt His call to give, reminding us that His plans are always greater than our fears. The smiles, laughter, and joy on the faces of these children were a testament to His love and your obedience.

As we reflect on this incredible night, we are drawn to Jesus’ words in Matthew 19:14: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

These children, so precious to Him, experienced a tangible expression of His love and peace this Christmas, thanks to all who gave their time, resources, and prayers.

Thank you for being His face, hands, and feet and for bringing the joy of Christ to these little ones. May God bless you abundantly for your faithfulness. Merry Christmas, and may His peace fill your hearts in the coming year!

Here are some pictures from the party! Since it took place at night, a few may be a bit hard to see.
