Yesterday we featured one role model on campus and today we’ll focus on another. Pierreson is the big brother around here and is definitely protective and caring toward all his younger siblings.

He is a natural leader and the mommas often rely on him to help lead nightly devotions either in song or prayer, and he is always more than glad to sing or talk to God! His heart is continually being molded by God as he steps up to lead and encourage his family and friends.

One reason he has so much influence is that he is not afraid to lead by example. As one of the oldest, he is mature in his faith and knowledge as well as his desire to serve. Having a servant’s heart, Pierreson is more than ready to help out when he can, whether that’s helping clean up toys/dishes or just being available and asking what he can do.

This boy has such a serious and tender heart and I remember several times over the summers, when he would come up to me and want to discuss a certain issue or question he had. Many times I would stand there with my arm around him just listening to the grievances he had or his caring heart for others. This boy is a sensitive soul but also has such empathy and compassion for those around him, especially those who are sick or hurting. When others are hurting, Pierreson’s heart hurts too.

Ephesians 4:32
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

However, don’t be surprised by this kid’s silliness! He is one of the biggest goofballs and he loves being silly as much as he is sweet! He enjoys playing outside, on the swings or running around playing soccer, and he creatively makes up a lot of his own games and gets his younger brothers to join in! He also is full of silly smiles and dance moves, whether he’s dancing to his own beat or together with friends.

Today I want to circle this sweet, serious, serving, and silly boy. I want to pray for him as he grows up into the young man God has created him to be. I want to pray circles around these couple of passages from Ephesians 4 for Pierreson today. That he would continue to care for and teach those around him and that he would lead by example. That he would not lose his tender heart and that God will continually refine it as he becomes grieved over the hurt and injustice he sees in the world rather than just the injustices against him. I pray that he will grow in his faith and will follow Christ ultimately so he will mature and be equipped for the works God has prepared for him in his life. I pray he will not overlook the value of love and its purpose in the body as he continues to love those God places in his path. God is using and molding this sweet boy and I know He will continue to do so!

Ephesians 4:11-16
"And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Pierreson’s Family Tree has been looking a little bare lately! There are 7open spots in his Family Tree! For only $30/month you can join as a branch on his Family Tree. As a sponsor you are supporting a child financially – by helping fund their educational, medical, and physical needs – but you also are building a relationship. As we call them “Family Trees” the hope is that our sponsors will come around these kids and support them through prayers and finances as they grow and go through life.

While NWHCM does not adopt out of their orphanages, sponsorship gives you an opportunity to join in the family of a child and bring them into your family as well. Check out Pierreson’s Family Tree site here to learn more and help us fill out those bare branches today!
