Yeehaw!!
(From Erica Shaw’s Blog – Intern in Mole St Nicholas)
Hey Everybody! Sorry it’s been so long since the last time I posted. I’m back in Haiti; I’ve been back here for about 2 and a half weeks now. I really enjoyed my time back home, getting to see my family and friends, but I kept finding myself thinking about being back in Haiti. It was great to return to Haiti and see my NWHCM family and all my friends here too! During the first 3 months of my internship I taught preschool and a sewing class, and I led the kids’ church. During those 3 months I also learned that teaching children is NOT one of my strengths, although I love those kids very much! Throughout these next 6 months of my internship I will continue to teach the sewing class, as well as hopefully a music class! It was awesome to go to the orphanage after not being there in 2 and a half months! The kids were so excited and started yelling my name and they ran to greet me!
I also received a very warm welcome from the ladies in the sewing class! The first week I was here, we had a team here with us, 2 of them (Kim and Deb) from my home church. Kim, Deb, and Liz helped me to get the sewing class set up and ready for the ladies, and Kim gave me some good pointers on keeping the class running! We have so much fun in the sewing class! Kim would ask the ladies if they were having fun and they would all reply with a big “yeehaw” which eventually turned into a big “heehaw” after some of the ladies got really excited and into it! It sounded like we had donkeys in the sewing room The ladies’ first project was an apron.
I ended up not being able to do much for the majority of the second week because I was sick, but this past Thursday I finally felt up to getting out of bed and walking through town to the property.
I am so happy to be back here in the Mole St. Nicolas, Haiti! I can’t wait to see what all God has in store for me while I’m here! Please pray for me that I will listen to what He has to say to me and that I will follow His lead!
Great to see your beautiful smile back in the Mole holding those beautiful angels!
