New Year’s Trip Day 1 & 2

Hey everyone this is Selah Gargon from “The Chapel” writing the first blog for today. We made it here safe, took a while but we got here safe. When we first landed the weather was a completely different feel than it was back at home. The cultural here is really opposite from home, especially in the capital when we first landed. It was so crowded, loud and a bit crazy due to the stress of trying to get to the small plane. We finally got onto the little plane, which my mom told would be bumpy but I didn’t believe her, she was right. The view was AMAZING. Once we landed in “The Mole” we took a bus to the orphanage, got a tour around the place and got into our dorms.

The sleep arrangements were interesting. In the middle of the night you could hear the animals howling and the roosters crowing. ALL NIGHT. However, I was so exhausted I just fell right back to sleep. The children here are so precious. We made so many friends with them. At my church I got this child names Mar-Kennedy a Christmas gift and the best part was getting to meet him, hold him and give him love. I mean, when you think of someone all the time and then get the time to give them a gift, just finally being able to meet them in person is the best gift. I also made friends with this little boy named Robinson. He is obsessed with me. He always tells to “Compé” (stand up), because he wants me to carry him. I can’t get enough of these kids. I’m in love.

We also went to the beach; it was SO blue; prettier than any Florida ocean I’ve ever seen in my life. Later on today we went around handing out the VBS bands to the children in the town. It was heart breaking to see how these kids live in such poverty. It was hard not to tear up seeing them live like that. It also amazed me when you would just say hello to the people and how their faces light up. It really taught me a lot about how much I take for granted in my life. God has been teaching me so much and it’s very hard to write it all down on this blog, I mean it’s only been two days. I can’t wait to see what he has in store! J

(P.S Hi mom, love you!)

Philemon.

Dear Eunice,

I love you and miss you very much. We got in Sunday around 3 o clock. Today we went swimming and I preach the word to four teenage boys for over an hour. They seem very hungry. We gave out bracelets to VBS, and we are all excited about sharing Jesus to the village. Love you, see you soon.

  8. Hello Phil,
Three days seems like 30, but I am more excited about what you’re accomplishing, as opposed to my missing you. Working in God’s harvest is a far greater thing.

Yesterday we decided to take Ethan and Simone to Disney world. They had a blast! In all the years we visited, I have never seen so many people, one literally could barely move. The cast and crew directed people flow much of the day. But the experience was worth it for the children. We wished that “Grampie” could have been there.
Well, I am on my way back to Boston Massachusetts today, and Philemon and Whitney are heading back to the Kalamazoo.
I look forward to your post.
May God’s grace and mercy follow you ALL the days of your life.
    I love you greatly,
    Eunice

  15. Greetings to all of you laborers in the Greatest Harvest of all time, as you meet the need and call to serve our Lord in the fields “white unto harvest”. You and your works there are an inspiration of what we all need now to put our minds to focus on in these last days as we watch for His Coming.
My husband and I are not members of The Chapel…yet, ..as we’ve only been visitors for the last two Sundays, invited by our dear new friends, Vivian and Maurice LeClaire.
As we visited the first time..then last Sunday joined your church body in praying for you at your “send-off” to Haiti I was impressed with the sincere warm welcome from many of your members, and the “Family of Christ” bond you share. You have a very supportive body of believers back home praying for you as you work for our Lords kingdom and His Glory.
I even feel a tinge of envy of you, wishing I were there also…to not only be a blessing, but to be blessed by the people and children hungry and open to receiving what the Lord is giving them …through each of you with your individual gifts and talents.
your experiences and the photos shared so far in this blog are a blessing. Keep them coming.

I pray that each of you will experience a special touch from God….that He bless you with His Peace that passes all understanding, His Joy to fill your hearts, His Grace to encourage you, and His Agape’ Love to fill your hearts to overflowing….
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:1-2).

I pray that you will see signs and wonders, as He promised in His great commission, which you have been obedient to…so that you will return renewed in spirit and faith…to share your experience with the saints back home thinking of and praying for you…inspiring others toward the “Great Commission” as laborers in the fields white unto harvest, even in our own neighborhoods and communities. He said in Mark 16:17

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Some of you might think that a real stretch for you to see…but Jesus made a PROMISE to those that believe…didn’t He?
Welllll….. “(You)Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens (You)!” (Philippians 4:13)

(Hugs to Viv n Mo…we’re excited to hear your experiences when you’re back. And yes, we are taking good care of your truck, it sleeps every night in your driveway! We’re trying to NOT drive it much, but Gary didn’t buy the one and still hasn’t found one. Maybe you could pray for that? We’re weary of looking now…but all is in Gods hands anyway. 🙂 Right?
Gee ..this comment was gonna be short…but seems it turned into a bit of a dissertation. 🙂
Peace, Blessings, and a very Happy and Blessed New Year to all.
Your prayer partners and fellow bondservants in Christ
    Maryetta & Gary
