A Special Place in My Heart…

A Special Place in My Heart – Sabrina

Just a forewarning, today’s post gets a little long but there’s just so much to talk about and so many wonderful people to highlight (also there’s lots of  fun and adorable photos!) So thanks for understanding and for keeping up with all my prayers and writings! You all are great!

Today I want to circle Sabrina from the Mole orphanage! She is a cutie with a contagious spirit of joy and love! I can’t help but break into a grin when I see her smile! I got the privilege of meeting Sabrina in St. Louis at the Miriam Center at the beginning of the summer. The Miriam Center ministers to special needs children as well as families looking to learn how to better care for their children that have special needs. It is such a great ministry that is helping raise awareness and support for those with special needs in Haiti, especially since in a lot of areas it can be seen as a curse or punishment. To be honest, I was a little reluctant to visit the Miriam Center and love on those kids at first. It was overwhelmingly heart-breaking to see precious children that had been neglected, abused rejected by society, all due to people seeing their differences, their physical/mental disabilities, as somehow making them lesser or unworthy of love. So it was difficult to look at these kids that had already experienced so much and know how to see the joy in their situations, know how to love them after so many had told them they were unlovable. But honestly, after spending  just a little time with those kids there is no question in my mind that they are some of the most joyful and loving people I’ve ever met. When I didn’t know what to do, how to love or be joyful in the midst of heartbreak, they taught me how.  It’s bringing tears to my eyes thinking how much they taught me about joy, love, and life. I couldn’t get enough of these sweet kiddos and I wish I could have spent even more time playing and laughing with them before I left for the Mole.

However, now Sabrina has come from the Miriam Center to join the Mole orphanage family! Like I said, I really connected with her in St. Louis and I loved holding her and playing out in the courtyard together. Her smile and laugh is seriously so contagious and I was sad to say goodbye to her and all my new friends in St. Louis when we left. But I’m also super excited that she has now joined the Mole family and I’m praying that God will continue to work through this transition in her life. Sabrina came to the Mole after I left this summer so I didn’t have a chance to see her again but from stories and photos I’ve seen, she’s getting to know all her new brothers and sisters there and is having a blast! Today I’m praying that God will continue to work in her life and that her joyful heart will always shine for others to see! Praying that she’ll grow into a beautiful woman of God and that her life will serve as an example to those around her, all the while pointing to Christ. I pray that any hardships or obstacles that come her way will be overcome by her faith and that they will only serve as a testament to God’s power, alive and working in her life.  I pray that God will bring people into her life to support and love her and join her family tree as sponsors! Sweet Sabrina has room for 3 more sponsors in her family tree! Would you commit to supporting her? Here’s her sponsorship page to learn more:
