Welcome Our Interns!

We are so excited to welcome our interns Morgan, Emily, and Patrick to the Mole! We do not have very many teams coming to the Mole this summer, so we will not be updating our team blog as often. However, our interns will be busy doing ministry in the Mole throughout the summer when we do not have teams.  So if you want to stay updated on what is happening in the Mole –  their blogs are a great place to look!

This is Morgan’s third summer interning with us in the Mole so I guess that we haven’t scared her off yet! Haha! Morgan will be starting her junior year at Manhattan Christian College in the fall. She is pursuing a major in Christian Ministry with emphases in Intercultural Studies and Counseling. Since her first summer interning with us, God has given her a heart to use this degree to reach out to the girls in our community that are being sexually abused and trafficked. This summer she will be leading a girl’s Bible Study with Emily. She is excited to pour into these girls and their families throughout the summer. Morgan will also continue to help me coordinate the short-term teams’ schedules this summer. She is also excited to spend time loving on our kids that live in our orphanage through just playing with them, hugging them, and laughing with them. The interns are also attempting to teach the older kids how to swim this summer, which is already proving to be an adventure. This is Emily’s second summer interning with us in the Mole! She is studying pharmacy at Drake University and will be focusing more on the medical aspect by helping organize my clinic pharmacy this summer. She is excited to start meeting with our girls’ bible study again as well as lead VBS for kids in this community. She will also be having tons of fun playing with the 33 kiddos at the Mole orphanage and putting on weekly movie nights for the community. This summer is not only Patrick’s first internship with Northwest Haiti Christian Mission and our first boy intern in the Mole, but also his first time being in the Mole. Patrick first came to Haiti last year with a short-term mission group through Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. His experience changed his outlook on life and he currently desires to be a medical missionary wherever God may call him. Patrick is studying biology at Millikin University in hopes of one day becoming a physician. This summer he plans on starting a men’s bible study in hopes of sharing God’s word and love with the young men of the Mole. He also is excited to get to spend time with the orphanage children. He also will be helping Emily organize my health clinic. One of his goals for this summer is to score a legitimate goal in soccer against the older boys in the community.
