Texas Tech – Day 1 & 2…

We have finally made it to The Mole! Our fearless leader Foul Martian (some believe it’s spelled Al Martin, I’m not convinced) has been leading us fearlessly.

After a couple days of traveling, we are settled in at the mission. After a 5 hour bus ride from Lubbock to Dallas, an early morning flight from Dallas to Atlanta, and another flight from Atlanta to Port Au Prince, we were finally in Haiti! For those of you who have been following this blog since last year, we are so excited because we did not have to take the 13 hour bus ride from Port Au Prince to The Mole! This year, we went from the airport to a hotel where we were able to swim, eat dinner, and get a good night’s sleep. We took 45 minute rides in small, 6 passenger planes to get from Port Au Prince to the Mole. Though many of us were very anxious about riding on the planes, they were a lot less sketchy than we were expecting!! Woot woot! The view from the plane was absolutely beautiful- plus the trip was 45 minutes rather than 13 hours so that’s pretty cool.

Since our arrival in The Mole we’ve been hanging out around the mission. We went to the beach, got accustomed to the land, and most fun of all we got to hang out with the kids at the orphanage!

Please be praying for us during this trip as we spread the gospel throughout Haiti!

Love,

Molly McClain

Hey y’all! It’s Maddie!

I did not think I would be one of the first ones to blog but… here I am! Our Friday was filled with buses, airports and “taptaps”, which is our transportation in Haiti.

After all of the traveling, it feels great to call the Mole home. Molly gave you a chronological overview of our travels, so I’ll just skip to flying to the mission. We took a teeny-tiny, little airplane that seated five people and our pilot, Dave, (amazing) gave us a little bit of a roller coaster ride over the mountains (just for fun). We were met with doombuggeys that took us to the mission and soon after arriving we had lunch & met with the rest of the group. The rest of day was spent with the orphans, a quick visit to the local beach and unloading the supplies. I was even given a lesson on creole, compliments of little miss Rosie. After dinner Jody gave us a powerful sermon describing the kind of seeds we may sow on this mission and asked us, what kind of seeds we were (Matthew 13). I can tell you after the little I have seen of the town and it’s people, my heart is even more on fire for God’s mission. I know he is going to do a great work in this community and I only hope to serve him humbly and fiercely in bringing his people close to him. I ask for your continued prayer for each of us over the duration of this mission along with prayer for the community in Haiti. May their ears and hearts open up, to receive the word of the Lord and accept Jesus Christ as their savior. Thank you so much for keeping up with us!

With love,

Maddie Lamar

  1. Hello from a very cold and windy Lubbock! We are glad to see that y’all arrived safely and are having fun. Each of you are very special in God’s eyes, and even though we do not personally know most of you, we are proud of your achievements and your giving of yourselves to others. And to the Chi-O girls (especially Tatum and Kristen), Hoot Hoot! Be safe and we look forward to reading more blogs. Love, Mom and Dad (financiers of Tatum’s and Kristen’s college)….

  2. Hello, Loves! Jodie, Maddi and Mason are praying for y’all as you begin the excitement of serving in the Mole! Be brave, be bold, and love big!
Big hugs for Albert & Maddux! Love you two so much!
    Have a restful night.

  3. Hi Brad and the rest of the Texas Tech Wesley group! We have been praying for your safe arrival to Mole St. Nicholas. We are looking forward to reading all the daily blogs and hearing about your adventures and how God is working through you. We hope this will be a blessed week for you all. You are in our prayers.

    1. She made 6 trips to the airport on the Polaris picking up teams. They came in groups of 5 and there were 30 of them! She chased the vehicle down the street every time – even though she was “locked” inside! She was wore out – it’s hard being the welcome host! LOL!

  4. Hey guys! So excited to hear that y’all made it to the Mole quite a bit faster than last year lol. I’m bummed I can’t be with y’all this year but I know you will do great things in the Mole! Love you dad and Maddux!! And all of my best friends from last year!! And the new people!! Have an amazing week guys!!

  5. Whaddup Wesley Fam!

First of all, Chris told me zero things about the agenda for this trip. I literally don’t even know when y’all are coming back, and I definitely didn’t know y’all were staying in Port-au-Prince last night. Had me straight up stressin’ when I woke up to no update on the blog. So, someone give my husband a good smack for that! And then give him a really big hug and kiss for me 🙂

So for the rest of y’all…here’s some news headlines that you may have missed since being gone. (Whoever is reading this aloud at dinner, please do a newscaster impression. That would be awesome!). Twitter has broke out into debate about how clean Tupperware actually is and should we trust it? / A man was arrested for breaching the White House grounds via climbing over the fence / Spurs player, LaMarcus Aldridge, is out indefinitely for heart arrythmia / And lastly, according to Scientists, potatoes could grow on Mars.

So that’s pretty much what you’ve missed.

I hope that you’ve all had some rest and are ready for what God may lead you to walk in this week. Praying for you all constantly.

Tell Chris that I love him and make sure he hears you say it.

    Peace y’all,
    Beth

    1. I made sure to look at Chris as I read this – who was ALL smiles – and I did my best at reading your news – as a news reporter! 🙂 Thanks for all the laughs & the update!

No bus ride!!!! What is up with that!?! Thats my favorite part of the stories of your mission trip is hearing the bus stories when ya’ll return….(the bumps, the dirt, the windows not going up, being peed on)…LOL…but in all honesty, I am so excited ya’ll didn’t have to take the bus.
I am glad yall got to hang out in Port Au Prince and then take tiny planes to the mole and dunebuggy’s…oh baby! how fun is that!!!!!!

  26. Doctor Blaine! Just wanted to say I miss you bro and let y’all know there are many people interceding for you. So walk boldly and love fiercely, not because of your own strength, but by the Spirit of God who dwells with all the saints. Run hard while you are there, saints. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

  27. Waddup party people!!!! I’m praying for y’all this week and I am so expectant for our King Jesus to stir up places in each of your hearts that need a good stirring. It’s so beautiful to know that this trip isn’t about what you do but about saying “yes” to the Holy Spirit as he leads you and prompts you to move and allowing it to greatly impact you when you go back to LBK.

If you see Peirreson give him an extra hug from me.
